At the Tuvan Research Institute of Agriculture – a branch of the SFSCA RAS, field trials laid out according to the thematic plan of scientific research of the SFSCA RAS for 2026 were accepted. The research conducted at the branch is aimed at determining the potential for increasing and fully utilizing the bioresource potential of forage crops in the sharply continental climate of Eastern Siberia.
Research is ongoing to identify the most adaptable annual forage crops for the soil and climate conditions of the steppe zone of the Tuva Republic, focusing on high yield and productivity, and to develop forage crop rotations. The study includes winter rye, ryegrass, mustards, rapeseed, sweet clover and its mixes with millet and Sudan grass, as well as pea-oat and pea-barley mixes.
It has been noted that the setup of experiments, observations, and records are carried out at all stages of the study according to the methodology of experimental work, work programs, and schedules, and the documentation of experiments is done in compliance with all norms and rules.
The research being conducted is very relevant right now for the Republic of Tuva, as a livestock region, where one of the main tasks is to create a solid feed base to supply livestock with biologically complete feed.
