The planted potato tubers recovered by the apex meristem method and tested for absence of virus infection yielded the crop. The work of the BSC on potatoes is carried out in several stages:
at the first stage virus-free plants are obtained by the apex meristem method, the second stage leads to accelerated multiplication of virus-free plants, at the third stage super-elite plants are grown and at the fourth stage super-elite seed material is obtained.
The highest potato reproduction rate is currently provided in the BSC with the help of the intelligent control systems of plant reproduction parameters, developed by the SFSCA RAS staff, which allow real-time ecophysiological studies of potato, taking micro-meteorological indicators, running an automated system of nutrient solutions and water supply, regulating the lighting and ventilation regime.
The total number and weight of tubers and their fractional composition depending on the variety are calculated as a result of harvesting and registration. In the future the tubers will be stored in accordance with the GOST.
The Potato Breeding and Seed Center of the SFSCA RAS allows to obtain a year-round crop of virus-free potato material of different reproductions.
